The Best Adventure Travel Destinations

What did you do for your last vacation? Were you amused? Did you find something fun to do? Was there some leisure too or did your last vacation consist of shuttling your family around, doing yard work and other chores? Was your last “vacation” actually a “staycation”? Why not go for something out of the ordinary this year? When you have a short time off, why not look into some of the various adventure travels that may be available in your backyard. Even if you don’t go outside your home state there are tons of adventures to be had. If you can afford to spend a little more, why not treat yourself to a true adventure? Here are some adventure travels that are well-known favorites. (oh and by the way, always read cruise ship ratings before booking a cruise!)

If you like being in the outdoors and trying to survive and live off the land, why not take an Australian Walkabout? These have increased in popularity, especially since one of the main characters on the TV show Lost tried one out. The idea behind an Australian Walkabout is that you and your fellow adventurers head out into the Australian Outback with a guide. While you are on your walkabout, you live entirely off the land. You hunt for and gather your own food, make your own shelter from any materials you can find and experience the “elements” that could come your way (weather, animals, etc). It can be described as extreme camping and can be very satisfying.

If you enjoy extreme adventure travel, why not think about taking a hot air balloon to parts unknown? What about going white water rafting? Have you considered Bungee jumping? Some people enjoy a rush of excitement from skydiving. Of course, there are various locations around the world you can do this. With an extreme adventure vacation, it is possible to go skydiving over the Grand Canyon. Take a hot air balloon across the Australian outback. When you make the choice to go to the extremes, the entire world is your playing field. A trendy extreme vacation is paragliding in India. Why not explore the skies? I highly recommend South America cruises!

Go on a Llama Trek! Anybody can go horseback riding. If you want a great adventure travel without having to leave the United States, try the Hurricane Creek Llama Treks in Oregon. These treks will have you camping outside for the trip–you bring your own equipment and are responsible for all of it as well as for packing and unpacking your llama bags. These are great trips because you can either ride your own llama in the Oregon wilderness or you can walk the trails and lead your llama behind you. When else in life are you going to have the chance to go for a llama ride? There are a variety of ways “adventure travels” can be defined. For some it involves extreme activities like climbing the tallest mountains in the world or experiencing extreme climates. For some, it involves challenging situations they are not used to in their normal, everyday life – such as cattle driving and hiking in different lands, etc. Still for other people, adventure travels include learning new stuff, while still having a peaceful journey. The short story is: it doesn’t matter what your interests are, there is an adventure vacation designed for you! Also, don’t forget that the biggest cruise ship isn’t always the best!
